How to Prepare for a Stellar Phone Interview

Saying that life has been crazy for everyone would be an understatement.

When I decided to take a break from my biz in February, little did I know what was going to happen shortly after... Well, none of us knew all of this was going to happen. This whole experience is so new for all of us...how were we supposed to know how we would handle it?

I’ll be the first one to say that it’s really easy for me to ignore my emotions bubbling inside. I focus on my goals, my to-do lists, and everything I want to accomplish before realizing that my heart was screaming for a break.

This whole quarantining experiencing has forced us to pay attention to those feelings. Right now is the BEST time to turn inwards and learn exactly what you need in order to take care of yourself in every way.

I cried. I grieved. I journaled. I meditated. I stayed strong for loved ones when they needed it. I’ve had days where I’m productive and days where all I did was play Animal Crossing.

And that’s okay.

TikTok has honestly been something ridiculous and fun that makes me smile throughout all of this, so don’t be surprised if you see more videos like this in the future 🤗

My goal is to help you in any way I can. Need book recommendations? I got you. Need self-confidence or self-care tips? Lets do this. Need someone to vent to because everything can be just a little too much? I’m here.

You’re going to get through this. We’re going to get through this.

Our school system has it all wrong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, at least about this one thing:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Failure.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
School teaches you that failure is your worst enemy. 😤
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fail a test? You’re the worst in the class.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fail your book report? You did too much wrong and there’s no way of fixing it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our school system trains children to perceive failure as this horrible, final, negatively life-altering situation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And in return? We are conditioned to fear failure. 😖
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It took me until the summer before my senior year in high school to realize that my fear of failure was what propelled me to become a perfectionist.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
See, our school system trains you to live your life trying to avoid failure at all costs - to consistently do your best. Prepare as much as you can ahead of time, and you *should* end up on top.

If not? Clearly you didn’t try hard enough, and now your grades will affect your entire GPA. 🙃
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The reality? Failure is what you make of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You are completely capable of conquering whatever mountains have been thrown your way. Some of you may already be aware of a few mountains you're already working on this year. 👊🏼

Next time you find yourself negatively comparing your life and progress to people you follow on Instagram, try these two steps:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Put yourself in their shoes. When you see their successes and happy moments on Instagram, do you really think you're seeing the full story? Really stop and consider what challenges other people may have experienced in order to achieve their success.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣Flip the script - pretend you're someone else comparing themselves to you. What do you think other people are jealous of when they look at your Instagram page and your successes? You might be surprised just how much progress you're making when you change your perspective.

Is this something you struggle with? I used to get so stuck in the comparison trap that it'd trigger deep anxiety and stress. I've become a lot more self-aware about when to put down the phone and focus on myself when I notice some of those negative thoughts, but it takes practice! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
