As we grow older, our friendships with others change. It’s easy to grow your friend circle in high school because you see each other every day. College can be similar – a much more social culture for many students. However, if you’re not in a classroom every day, how do you make friends as an adult? Through my life, I’ve developed friendships in a variety of ways. I was on sports teams, active in high school clubs, participated in a teen church group, joined organizations in junior college, and found incredible friends through social media. After I moved to Southern California to finish my finalRead More →

Today marks a brand new step and direction for this blog. For the past few months I’ve been working hard at redesigning, rebranding, and rediscovering my direction for Sara Katherine. Allow me to reintroduce myself to those who are new and those who have stuck around through this journey. Blogging grew into one of my passions back in my early college years when I started writing about the Disney College Program and my experience working in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland on thedisneyden.com. After a few years, I realized I wanted to write about more than Disney. It took a while before I discovered exactlyRead More →

A couple of weeks ago I experienced my official college graduation commencement. I actually finished school back in December, but was finally able to walk the stage last weekend. Going back to campus and hearing many of my old classmates have amazing careers made me critically think about my own goals and expectations. I may not have a full on “career” just yet, but I decided it was time to reevaluate smaller aspects of my life that were somewhat ignored in college. I shared an amazing article on my Facebook page that gave you 60 small goals to change your life in 100 days. The author mentioned that small changes canRead More →

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a perfectionist. I strive to create my best work possible for anything I’m doing – whether it was in school, at any job, blogging, or with my personal relationships. It wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I realized that one reason why I always strived for my best: I was terrified to fail.Read More →

One of the most daunting tasks at the beginning of every semester is buying textbooks. When I was in college, I remember looking at the prices of my required text at the college bookstore and cry a little on the inside. The best way I was able to ease the pain was from buying and renting my textbooks on various websites. I would save hundreds every semester; it was fantastic! After four years of buying textbooks in college, here are my top recommendations for saving money when purchasing or renting your books: Bigwords I always came to this website first before any other textbook site becauseRead More →

And just like that, we’re facing a brand new year. 2015 was a year of hope and new beginnings for me. The previous year was a particularly rough one. Filled with heartbreak, failure, and a lot of soul searching to figure out what I truly want and how I need to achieve it. I declared 2015 to be the year I focused on ME, and boy I sure did. I kicked off the new year with a surprise: My book was officially published! I couldn’t believe it. One of my biggest dreams came true. It was absolutely unreal. I continued the great start for the newRead More →

Now that I have officially completed college, it’s time to look back at all the goals I made for the semester, and see the progress (or lack of) that I made for each goal! Avoid procrastinating – I was definitely better at this for this last semester than I have in the past. Midterms was a bit of a struggle with it but I definitely finished strong with planning early and avoiding Netflix as much as possible to focus on finals and my last huge group projects due at the end of the semester. Earn at least one “A” in my classes – I still haven’t gottenRead More →

You guys, I did it! I conquered the impossible! I finished college! I’ve been blogging about my final semester in school for a bit, but to actually be able to say that I finished finals and I am now a college graduate is absolutely surreal. This is something I’ve been planning and aiming towards for more than five years. It’s crazy to think that back in high school, college was only a distant thought. Now, it’s a part of my history. What’s the plan now? Well, like most successful business school graduates…I’m still figuring that out. I am definitely trying my best to work outRead More →

At the beginning of the semester, I created a quick list of goals I wanted to complete throughout my finals months of college. Now that I’ve completed midterms and I’m officially halfway through the semester, I thought it’d be fun to go through each goal and see the progress I’ve been making (or lack of progress….sadly). Avoid procrastinating – I have yet to stay up extremely late to work on an assignment, project, or study for a test, which I’m very proud of. During midterms I had a report, slideshow, three exams, and a presentation all in a span of two days, and I stillRead More →
