A couple of weeks ago I experienced my official college graduation commencement. I actually finished school back in December, but was finally able to walk the stage last weekend. Going back to campus and hearing many of my old classmates have amazing careers made me critically think about my own goals and expectations.
I may not have a full on “career” just yet, but I decided it was time to reevaluate smaller aspects of my life that were somewhat ignored in college. I shared an amazing article on my Facebook page that gave you 60 small goals to change your life in 100 days. The author mentioned that small changes can have big impacts in your life in the long run. With the new month already upon us, I took this article to heart and chose a couple of simple goals for this week, which will hopefully turn into a habit for the month.
Goal One: Get dressed and ready for the day by noon
I have a horrible habit of staying in my pajamas for most of the day unless I have to go to work. Even then, sometimes my shifts at work start at 6:30 pm. It’s actually a huge pet peeve for my boyfriend, who believes you’ll be more productive and ready for the day if you get dressed at a decent hour. I’m hoping that developing the habit of getting ready for the day before noon instead of staying in bed watching Netflix and browsing Pinterest all morning will help me become an overall more productive person.
Goal Two: Take vitamins daily
I had a rough month health-wise back in March, which is very unusual for me. Two hospital bills later, I decided I need to take a step back and focus more on my health. While I know that developing a regular workout routine would help me feel MUCH better, the reality is I’m not in the right mindset to develop these habits. I figured the best strategy was to start small, by taking vitamins every day. My go-to choices are generic multi-vitamins with iron, Vitamin D and Vitamin C.
I might make these two simple goals my goals for the entire month of June, or I might create new ones for the week once I feel like I’ve successfully created habits from these goals. Breaking down my bigger goals into baby steps make them sound much more doable and easier to accomplish.
